The president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee, N. Uttam Kumar
Reddy, has urged the state government to regularise the services of junior
panchayat secretaries. In a letter to the Chief Minister, Reddy pointed out
that the junior panchayat secretaries had been working on a contractual
basis for several years, despite the fact that their services were
essential for the functioning of the panchayat raj system.
Reddy argued that the junior panchayat secretaries were responsible for
implementing various government schemes at the grassroots level, and that
their services were crucial for the development of rural areas. He also
pointed out that several other states had already regularised the services
of junior panchayat secretaries, and that Telangana should follow suit.
