Former Maharashtra Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis
expressed satisfaction with the Supreme Court’s verdict on the Maharashtra
political crisis. The court had earlier upheld the Maharashtra Governor’s
decision to invite BJP leader Fadnavis to form the government in 2019,
despite lacking a majority. Fadnavis said that the verdict had exposed the
“conspiracy” by the opposition parties to form a government in Maharashtra
through “unconstitutional means”. He added that the verdict had vindicated
his party’s stand that the Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP)
had tried to manipulate the mandate of the people.
