Tech Giant Microsoft has reportedly executed its third round of layoffs. As per latest reports, Microsoft has fired nearly 1000 employees from teams all across countries. Microsoft layoffs took over social media after disappointed employees took to Twitter to share the news.
While Microsoft has not disclosed the exact number of layoffs done, US News report by Axios stated around 1000 employees have been laid off. Reports have further added that these firings were planned in July itself. Microsoft, led by Satya Nadella, planned on cutting off less than 1 percent of Microsoft’s total workforce of 180,000 people.
The news regarding layoffs In Microsoft India and the exact number is yet to be found out. Microsoft is not the only company that has laid off employees in the past few months. As per reports, tech giant Meta also plans on cutting off nearly 12,000 people.
“Like all companies, we evaluate our business priorities on a regular basis, and make structural adjustments accordingly. We will continue to invest in our business and hire in key growth areas in the year ahead,” Microsoft told US based Axios News.
IT giants such as Infosys, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Intel, Google and more have reported laying off employees or are planning to cut down their workforce.
