Serb MPs and police in Kosovo resign in droves.

Serb minority leaders in Kosovo resigned Saturday in protest over the
firing of a police officer who did not comply with government policy
regarding license plates.

This week, a senior Serb police officer in northern Kosovo, where most
ethnic Serbs live, was fired by Pristina authorities for refusing to comply
with a decision to switch vehicle registration plates in Kosovo to ones
issued by Kosovo. This change has sparked heated debates about Kosovo’s
independence, particularly among the Serb minority. Many Serbs still
consider the former Serb province part of Serbia rather than an independent
state.
