Turkey’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has described a bomb assault on a
major pedestrian thoroughfare in central Istanbul on Sunday as having the
“smell of terrorism” due to the number of casualties, which stood at six.
Cops promptly blocked off the busy Istiklal Avenue as ambulances rushed to
the site. TRT and other media outlets stated that the Beyoglu section of
the city was as active as usual with shopping, visitors, and families.
Footage captured the instant the blast went off in the middle of the
avenue, sending debris flying and leaving numerous people injured and lying
