The United States will continue to defend humanitarian principles and
international law, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said on Saturday, warning
that China and Russia want a world where force is used to resolve
disagreements.
According to Austin’s presentation at the Halifax International Security
Forum in Canada, “Beijing, like Moscow, seeks a world where might makes
right, where disagreements are resolved by force, and where autocrats may
stamp out the flame of freedom.”
“The difficulty that we face in the Indo-Pacific, where (China) is likewise
pushing for something very far from our idea of a free and stable and open
international order,” Austin added, referring to the conflict between
Moscow and Kyiv
