Late yesterday evening, three soldiers patrolled the Line of Control in
North Kashmir to prevent terrorist infiltration when they were hit by a
significant snow flow (Nov 18).
Colonel Emran Moussavi, the Defense Ministry’s spokesman, provided
specifics regarding the incident, saying that a snow slide hit a patrol
party near the Line of Control in the Machhal Sector of Kupwara, North
Kashmir, during the night of November 17–18.
He reported that a patrol became stranded in the snow, two soldiers had to
be rescued and taken to Military Hospital Kupwara. A third man on the
patrol had to be taken to the hospital because he had acquired hypothermia.
