Guidelines For The Use Of GMOs In Food Are Being Proposed By A Food Safety Group.

FSSAI has proposed requiring prior authorization from the regulator to
produce, market, and import food or ingredients created from genetically
modified organisms in its draft regulations for genetically modified food.
According to the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, GMOs
developed for consumption must comply with the planned Food Safety and
Standards (Genetically Modified Foods) Regulations, 2022. (FSSAI).
