The distribution of scooters to outstanding students who recently completed
their higher secondary education was initiated on Wednesday by Assam Chief
Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. A total of 35,800 people, including 6,052
boys and 29,748 girls, have benefited from the program thanks to the Dr.
Banikanta Kakati Merit Award, which is part of the Pragya Bharti scheme.
The minimum qualifying score for boys was 75% on the Assam Higher Secondary
Education Council’s examinations, while the minimum qualifying score for
girls was 60%.
