The Hindu side’s lawyer presented a map to the Allahabad High Court,
claiming it proved the presence of Hindu temples at the contested location
in Varanasi. Before demolishing a Hindu temple to make room for a mosque,
the map was displayed to demonstrate the reality of Hindu deities.
According to Hari Shankar Jain, the Hindu side’s legal representative,
“these deities were regularly worshiped at their respective locales until
1993, when this practice was banned by an order issued by the state
government.”
