Self-inflicted wounds, motor vehicle accidents, accidental drops, fires,
and drownings account for a large portion of India’s 1.4% annual injury
rate.
The Indian government is attempting to alleviate this problem by creating
India’s first comprehensive approach to preventing injuries. It is also
expanding its burns program and creating a national strategy to reduce the
number of snakebites.
