The French Football Federation said that several French players, including
Raphael Varane and Ibrahima Konate on Friday, have suffered colds in the
lead-up to Sunday’s World Cup final versus Argentina.
Dayot Upamecano, a central defender, and Adrien Rabiot, a midfielder, were
both sick and did not play in Wednesday’s semi-final victory over Morocco.
Didier Deschamps, the team’s coach, said they were taking precautions to
prevent the disease from spreading after Wednesday’s game,, but he remained
calm.Off the bench, France’s Randal Kolo Muani scored the team’s second goal in
their 2-0 victory over Morocco on Friday, saying, “There’s a little flu
that’s been spreading but nothing major. They’ll be well soon and be ready
for Sunday.”
A French press officer said we would talk about it later, because “as you
know, Randal is not a doctor.”
According to Kolo Muani, the sick players were separated from the rest of
the team.
He said we’ve been highly severe about keeping sick people at a distance.
“Those who are unwell stay in their room, and the physicians care for them.
