While playing for India in the first Test against Bangladesh in Chattogram
on Friday, talented opener,, Shubman Gill smashed his first Test century.
On Day 3, the 23-year-old reached the milestone of triple figures off 147
balls.
Gill scored his first Test century in his 12th outing, aided by nine
beautiful fours and two booming sixes.
Gill has also scored four fifties in a Test match.
The right-handed opener brought up his century with a boundary off Mehidy
Hasan in the 48th over of India’s second innings. He celebrated by raising
the bat in the direction of the locker room.
The visitors increased their grip on the opening Test after knocking
Bangladesh out for 150, largely thanks to pujari, which pushed India’s lead
above the 400-run mark. KL Rahul, the skipper, decided against implementing
the follow-on.
Gill, who had two on-field LBW calls overturned in his favour, took some
risks and showed off his shooting skills.
But Mominul, a substitute fielder, removed him for 110 off Hasan shortly
after he reached his century.
