Buttner and his team have done extensive research on this. Five such blue
zones have been identified in the world. “It’s not just about longer lives,
it’s about healthier ones,” says Caitlin McAfee, a wellness dietitian at
Houston Methodist. “People who live in blue zones are also less likely to
suffer from chronic illnesses.”
