The doctor in charge of Jay Leno’s care confirmed on Wednesday that the
talk show host underwent surgery for the severe burns he sustained when
flames erupted while working on a classic car.
According to Peter H. Grossman, medical director of the Grossman Burn
Center at West Hills Hospital in the San Fernando Valley, the former
“Tonight Show” host is in good condition, and his wife, Mavis, is by his
side.
“He is in terrific spirits today,” Grossman said at a live news conference.
Leno was injured during the weekend, and the plastic surgeon said the burns
on his face, hands, and chest were second-degree or even more severe.
