wrote an open letter to CEO Sundar Pichai
open Letter of 1400 employees
Demand to give preference to ex-employees in recruitment
Advised to take special care of those facing visa problem
Instruction not to undertake layoff in war zones
It is known that the famous tech company Google has fired 12 thousand
employees so far. In this context, 1400 Google employees jointly wrote an
open letter to CEO Sundar Pichai. They demanded that several measures
should be taken for the welfare of the employees. In their letter, the
employees have advised not to take up new appointments at present. In
addition, employees should be given an opportunity to voluntarily resign
before the layoffs are carried out. They want to give priority to those who
have lost their jobs in the future appointments of Google. They also
demanded that Google employees in countries who are facing war and other
humanitarian crises should not be fired.they demanded that the organization
should provide special help to those who face visa-related problems if they
lose their jobs. “The negative impact of layoffs at Google is visible
globally. However, there are no records of the employees’ voices being
heard. It is understood that our voice can be heard strongly with the unity
of the workers,” the employees stated in their letter. For the first time
since the layoffs began, it became important for the employees to write
this open letter. CEO Sundar Pichai announced the layoffs on January 20. 6
percent of the staff in the company said that they are going to be laid
off. At that time, he commented that we are facing a different economic
situation than we expected. Along with Google, companies like Microsoft,
Amazon, and Meta have ruthlessly targeted employees.
