the people on social media platforms criticised his accent at the Golden
Globes red carpet.Jr NTR had a big night along with the rest of the team of RRR, SS
Rajamouli’s pre-Independence epic that was nominated for two Golden Globe
awards on Tuesday night. The team arrived excited on the Globes red carpet
and answered a few questions for the media. However, it was Jr NTR who
gained the most attention. All thanks to his very fresh accent.
Speaking about the film and Naatu Naatu, the song from RRR that ultimately
won the Best Song award, Jr NTR said, “We thought, taking Rajamouli’s track
record into consideration, we definitely thought we had a winner. But this
was something more than a winner in Japan and today, America… come on, you
don’t expect this to happen.”
Anil Kapoor wrote whose accent also inspires a lot of jokes from time to
time. “Oh can’t wait for the Oscars version,” wrote another. “’aMERIca’.
Lol it sounds like a weird mix of fake American and British accents,”
noticed another Redditor. Another asked, “When an American comes to India,
he is isn’t picking up Indian accent to talk to us. We figure it out, don’t
we? Why do we need to put up an accent for them?”
However, some even defended Jr NTR. “Can Indians stop mocking other Indians
for their accents? A lot of these goras do not understand our normal accent
and they can also make some of us feel intimidated.
