HYDERABAD, veteran actor, producer, and director. Chalapathi Rao died of
cardiac arrest at his residence in Hyderabad on Sunday. He was 78. He
suffered cardiac arrest at the residence of his son Ravi Babu at Banjara
Hills.
Familar for his comic and villainous roles, Chalapathi Rao acted with
three generations of top stars in his five decades career.He is survived by
two daughters and a son. Ravi Babu is an actor and filmmaker.
Chalapathi Rao’s death is the immediate major loss to Tollywood in
three days. Veteran actor Kaikala Satynarayana had passed away couple of
days ago.
Several actors and politicians expressed their condolences over the
death of actor Chalapathi Rao. A large number of movie stars showed up at
Chalapathi Rao’s house and recalled their associations with him. After
paying tributes, the Mega Star Chiranjeevi expressed his sadness over his
passing. He brought up the times when he was with him in Chennai.Balakrishna expressed his sadness over Chalapathi Rao’s sudden demise. He
recalled that his unique presentation had amused the Telugu audience. The
passing of Chalapathi Rao saddened Junior NTR greatly. He recalled that
since the days of NTR, the renowned actor had maintained a good
relationship with his family. Directors Kasi Viswanath, Muthyala Subbaiah,
and well-known producer Suresh Babu paid their tributes to the deceased.
