Golden Globes.The Golden Globes returned with a live presentation after being blacklisted

awards, dubbed as Hollywood’s party of the year, courted controversy some
time ago, when a Los Angeles Times report revealed that the governing body
did not have a single Black member.

The awards were subsequently boycotted by Hollywood talent, their agencies,
and the press. It was only after the HFPA introduced several
behind-the-scenes changes that the industry warmed up to them once again.
Major heavy-hitters returned for this year’s show, which made it a point to
have a Black (and gay) presenter, comedian Jerrod Carmichael, and honoured
the legendary Eddie Murphy with a lifetime achievement award.
