Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that government is planning tow draft agricultural schemes by making a provision for next 50 years and therefore youngsters should shoulderE the responsibility of undertaking farming asw their prime occupation.
Sawant was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the Bicholim Progressive Farmers Producer Company Ltd, the first farmers company in Goa setup in association with the Central and the State government at Ravindra Bhavan, Sanquelim.
“Government will stress on natural farming by undertaking novel technical methods besides making available several schemes and subsidies to farmers and hence youths should not miss the opportunity of farming,” he said adding, “the new farmers company will help them to fetch better price to their produce and detail information about different farming schemes will be available as a result of which farmers may achieve greater height.”
Stating that there was need to start such companies, he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is takingw special efforts to help farmers by starting such companies with an only intention to encourage farmers to take double production in order to make them self- reliant.
He said the govt will start 12 such farmers producer companies in the State.
