Top ranking Pune’s Akshay Borgaonkar today won championship after final eighth round with capturing seven points out of eight and won Rs 10,000 in cash and a cup while third ranking Indrajeet Mahindrkar (Aurangabad) won runners-up with 6.5 points and best tiebreak points with Rs 9,000 in cash and a cup, in state open selection scoring chess competition on concluding day today held at Ram Ganesh Gadkari hall, organized by Kolhapur District Chess Association with the recognition of All India Chess Association.
Eleventh ranking Keval Nirgun (Pune) contented on third place with 6.5 points and 38.5 tiebreak points while 16th ranking Aniket Bapat(Satara) and 21st ranking Atharv Madkar(Pune) satisfied on fourth and fifth place with 6.5 points and less tiebreaker points.
Ganesh Tajane(Nashik), Rachit Gurunani (Mumbai) and Manas Gaikwad (Solapur), came on six, seven and eighth place respectively. Four winners from this competition Akshay Borgaonkar (Pune), Indrajeet Mahindrkar (Aur), Keval Nirgun(Pune) and Aniket Bapat (Satara), has been selected for 59th All India National selection scoring chess competition which to be held in Delhi from 23 December to 3 January, 2023. Later, in a function Mukund Bhave, RSS senior worker, Nitin Sarvgaud of Bank of Maharashtra distributed cash rewards and cups to the winners.
