Nothing soothes the itchy, red, chafed skin more than a generous layer of
petroleum jelly, especially when we have a cold and one very runny,
blocked-nose.
Except for the oil, of course.
In the winter, the wind seems to have forgotten that it is supposed to blow
(despite if it does so all year round). As a natural-products-loving
family, we have no choice but to endure constant chapping. We don’t put oil
on our skin because… well, you get the point. Petroleum jelly is a highly
processed and refined byproduct of the oil industry. It should not be
applied directly to the skin, especially while the body is healing.
