New Delhi :
A new method is coming to replace the existing methods of contraception
like pills, injections, Copper-T and condoms. The central government is
planning to implement this for the first time in the Telugu states. This
new tool is 3-4 centimeters long, 2-4 millimeters long like a needle. It is
placed under the skin of the elbow. A hormone that prevents pregnancy is
produced from this. Actually the tool is made of hormone itself. Those who
want to keep distance between offspring can use this tool. Medical experts
say that due to this, there is no problem for the harmony of husband and
wife. This procedure is called ‘Subdermal Contraceptive Implant’. Center
has decided to distribute this tool free of cost in all states. It will be
made available in all government hospitals. Staff nurses are also trained
to install it easily. This tool does not cause any discomfort. Moreover, it
can be easily removed whenever needed. Pregnancy is possible 48 hours after
removal. It is worn on the left side for right-handed people and on the
right side for left-handed people. This policy has been in place in Kenya
for almost two and a half decades.
