The Iranian atomic energy agency said on Saturday that building has begun
on a new nuclear reactor in the southeastern region of Khuzestan.
The Iranian Atomic Energy Organization’s head, Mohammad Eslami, announced
that work had begun on the Karun power plant in the Darkhovin area of
Khuzestan, with a capacity of 300 MW.
State television reported that the plant’s construction will take seven
years and cost $1.5 billion to $2 billion.
