As China was under severe threat of Covid out break for the past few days
with alarming situation, India alerted over possible rise of cases in the
country. The Ministry of Health sounded alert the states to be cautious
following increased number of positive cases during the present season. “At
least 35 lakh cases are reported across the globe in past week. The state
governments should take all necessary measures and collect samples of
positive cases to be sent for genome sequence to detect new variants”, the
Ministry of Health said and added new variants may cause severe threat and
similar situation of two years back may appear again in the country.High level meeting with
the Union health minister will review over the COVID-19 situation in
several countries on Wednesday.
NK Arora, chairperson of Covid working group , stressed need to keep a
close vigil over the situation in China, which has been witnessing a wave
of infections. He observed
even though there was no need to panic in India as the Covid situation was
under control in the country extensively immunized with effective
vaccination.
In wake of a new spike in cases in Japan, South Korea, Brazil,
China, and the United States, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will
review the COVID-19 situation.
The meeting will be convened with Ayush, the department of health, the
department of pharmaceuticals, and the department of biotechnology. Rajiv
Bahl, director general of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR),
Member (Health) of NITI Aayog V K Paul, and N L Arora, chairman of the
National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI) and
several other heads.
