That is how the American teen drama television program “Euphoria” was
characterized by the TV critic for National Public Radio in the United
States.
The award-winning program, which follows American youths through their
experiences with drugs, trauma, self-harm, love, and sex, is beloved by
critic Eddy Chen and millions of other Americans.
The series has been dubbed “dark, filthy, degenerate, and nihilistic” by
the conservative media advocacy group Parents Television and Media Council
(PTMA), which has demanded that HBO stop airing it.
This is unlikely to occur. With episodes averaging more than 16 million
viewers each, “Euphoria” ended its second season as the second-most watched
HBO program of all time, behind “Game of Thrones.”
