Relatives say an Egyptian activist has “deteriorated” during his hunger strike.

After a dramatic hunger strike, Alaa Abdel-family Fattah claims they were
allowed to visit him in prison on Thursday and that his condition has
“deteriorated severely.”

His activist sister Mona Seif tweeted the news after she and their mother,
aunt, and other sister visited him in Wadi el-Natroun jail north of Cairo.
It had been about a month since they’d last seen him.

Mona tweeted that “news from the visit is unsettling” and that her
brother’s condition has “deteriorated drastically in the past 2 weeks.” She
did not give any other details on his condition, but she did say that the
family would provide an update later that day.
