the heads of all the political parties represented in Parliament following
the November 1 elections, he will give former Prime Minister Benjamin
Netanyahu the responsibility of forming a new government.
The declaration came three days after Herzog first got the full poll
results from the Chairman of the Central Elections Committee.
According to the statement, “In total, 64 members of the Knesset proposed
to the President that he entrust the job of establishing a government to
Likud Chairman Benjamin Netanyahu MK” (Member of Knesset). According to a
statement released by the Presidency, “twenty-eight MKs recommended Yesh
Atid Chairman Yair Lapid MK, and four factions, representing a total of
twenty-eight members of the Knesset, decided to abstain from making any
proposal.”
