Cyberabad police announced on Tuesday that they had arrested 18 people in
connection with a human trafficking ring that had been operating in the
area for years and had trafficked more than 14,000 women and girls for
prostitution.
They said the victims were brought in from all over India, including Andhra
Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Assam, as well
as from other countries like Bangladesh, Nepal, Thailand, Uzbekistan, and

the accused “procured women and posted advertisements on websites,
contacted customers via call centers and WhatsApp, helping them to reach
the victims, and participated in prostitution in various hotels and
