Seven new measles cases were reported in Mumbai in a single day, and eight people have been reported to have died from the virus thus far

The measles total in Mumbai jumped to 176 on Friday, up from 169 a day
earlier, but the number of probable deaths remained steady at eight, a
civic official said.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation reported 2,860 possible measles
cases in a late-evening bulletin.
“The measles epidemic has spread to 17 locales across eight civic wards in
Mumbai. We know of at least eight deaths thus far. All of these cases will
be reviewed by the death committee, “according to the bulletin.
A 10-year-old girl from neighboring Bhiwandi in the Thane district died of
measles, as reported in the BMC bulletin, but her death will be counted in
the tally in Thane.
