Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, broke her silence on
the invites sent for the Governor’s swearing-in on Friday when responding
to Suvendu Adhikari, the Opposition Leader in the Assembly, during a
question-and-answer session in the Assembly. “Many were invited to the
meeting,” Mamata remarked. Even Krishna Kalyani, a BJP MLA in an official
capacity, was invited. There are no TMC members in the Standing Committee,
not even one. We are non-discriminatory. Many of you (Opposition members)
did not show up despite our invitation to the Governor’s Oath.
