A member of the Tippagarh Dalam who had allegedly killed a senior comrade
was assassinated, highlighting tensions within the Maoist party. There have
been rumors in the past that Maoists had eliminated party members and
disposed of bodies, but they have rarely confirmed it publicly like this
time.
With a reward of Rs 2 lakhs for his capture, Maoist militant Dilip Vachami,
23, was strangled to death by fellow party members as “punishment” for
killing senior cadre and divisional committee member Shankar Anna alias
Shankar Rao. Rao was one of the earliest members of the district’s Maoist
movement.
