The Congress MP and Communication IN-Charge Jairam Ramesh, speaking on
Friday at Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra in Madhya Pradesh, called former
Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, who has since joined the BJP, a
“24-carat traitor” and said the party would not accept him back. “Scindia
is a ‘gaddar’ (traitor), authentic gaddar, real cheddar, and 24-carat
gaddar,” Ramesh slammed the Madhya Pradesh BJP leader. The news agency PTI
quoted Ramesh as stating that former party members like Kapil Sibal,, who
kept a “dignified quiet” after leaving the party,, should be permitted to
rejoin but that Scindia and Himanta Biswa Sarma could not. On the fringes
of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, where he has been
since Friday in Agar Malwa, Madhya Pradesh, and where he will remain till
entering Rajasthan on December 4, was Ramesh, who made the following
remarks. On November 23, the Yatra crossed into the state of Madhya Pradesh
from the neighboring state of Maharashtra through the Bodarli hamlet of the
Burhanpur district.
