Achanta Sharath Kamal, a legendary table tennis player, will be honoured on
November 30 at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi with the Major Dhyan
Chand Khel Ratna Award, the country’s highest sporting honour, presented by
President Droupadi Murmu. Although Sharath is the only recipient of the
Khel Ratna award, he is among a group of 25 athletes who have been
nominated for the Arjuna Award. These athletes include shuttlers Lakshya
Sen and HS Prannoy, female boxer Nikhat Zareen, and athletes Eldhose Paul
and Avinash Sable.
