Mohali. Chasing a target of 258 runs, Punjab were bowled out for 201 runs
in 19.5 overs.
Although Atharva Thaide scored 66 runs and Sikander Raza scored 36 runs,
both of them got out at a crucial stage which affected Punjab’s chasing.
Apart from that, Lucknow Super Giants fielding was good in this match.
Captain KL Rahul’s fielding deployment paid off. The fielders of that team
took some good catches and caused the defeat of Punjab.
Among the Lucknow bowlers Yash Thakur took 4 wickets, Naveen Ul Haq 3,
Ravi Bishnoi 2, Marcus Stoinis took 1 wicket. Meanwhile, in this innings,
except Lucknow captain KL Rahul and wicket keeper Nicholas Pooran, the
other 9 bowlers are remarkable.
KL Rahul varied his bowlers without Punjab batsmen hitting big shots. This
move yielded good results. Offensive hitter Sam Karan scored 21 runs and
Jitesh Sharma scored 24 runs.
Earlier, Lucknow Super Giants who lost the toss and went into bat scored a
record score. Scored 257 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs. This is the second
highest score in IPL history. Stoinis scored 72, Kyle Meyers 54, Ayush
Badoni 43 and Nicholas Pooran 45.
With this win, the Lucknow team reached the second position in the points
table, while the Punjab Kings stood at the sixth position.
