India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, admitted Thursday that his team wilted under
the strain of a crucial semifinal match against England in the Twenty20
World Cup.

He claimed that their lackluster bowling was to blame for their 10-wicket
defeat.

England’s Alex Hales and Jos Buttler made light work of the chase,
finishing it with four overs to spare, while the Indian bowlers looked
pathetic defending 169.

“I’m quite bummed off with how today played out. We put up a strong finish
with the bat to get to that total. With the ball, we fell short of
expectations. The wicket was too slow for a side to come in and chase the
target down in 16 overs. We just didn’t have it today with the ball,” Rohit
remarked in the post-game press conference.
