the IPL 2023 Auction held in Kochi on Friday. He broke the record
previous record of South Africa all-rounder Chris Morris, on whom the
Rajasthan Royals had spent ₹16.5 crore during the IPL 2021 auction.About 10 franchises participated in the IPL 2023 Auction
where all the top players from across the globe were put in the
auction.Of the 405 players set to witness their fate sealed by the
franchises, 273 are Indian players and the remaining 132 from other
countries , including four from associate nations. A total of 87 slots
are to be filled by all 10 franchises combined, out of which 30 will
be overseas players. Players Sam Curran, Ben Stokes, Cameron Green and
Kane Williamson who have a base price of INR 2 crore each while Shakib
Al Hasan, Adam Zampa and Jason Roy have a base price of INR 1.5 crore
each while -Mayank Agarwal, Heinrich Klaasen and Joe Root have a base
price of INR 1 crore. Some other players have been categorised in the
price bracket of ₹75 lakhs, 50 lakhs and 20 lakhs based on their
performance.
Sunrisers Hyderabad shell out whopping ₹13.25 crore for
Harry Brook, 8.25 crore for Mayank Agarwal
England star Harry Brook triggered a massive bidding war in the
IPL 2023 Auction after the 23-year-old was eventually roped in by
SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) for ₹13.25 crore, but SRH finally reigned
supreme at ₹13.25 crore. Brook has played in 20 T20 matches for
England, registering 372 runs with a high score of 81. He was part of
England’s T20 World Cup-winning and played a key role.
Meanwhile, former Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Mayank Agarwal
also sold to SRH for ₹8.25 crore. The RCB and PBKS entered the
bidding, with the latter leading at ₹2.8 crore, followed by Chennai
Super Kings (CSK) pushing ₹3.8 crore. CSK and SRH began to compete
with the latter finally winning at ₹8.25 crore.
