Indian skipper Rohit Sharma injured his thumb on Sunday and will miss the
opening Test against Bangladesh. The BCCI has replaced him with Abhimanyu
Easwaran for the first Test that begins on Wednesday, December 14. In the
second one-day international against Bangladesh this week in Mirpur, Rohit
received a blow to his left thumb while fielding and was afterwards scanned
at a local hospital. After accumulating 299 runs in just two games for the
India ‘A’ team on tour in Bangladesh, Easwaran has been promoted to the
main squad. While he’s out, KL Rahul will serve as captain.
